It just doesn't seem real, he was the type of guy who you think would live to a ripe old age and be an even bigger icon in Australia and around the world, or to have his life cut short by a crocodile, not by a stingray.

I'm in shock and saddened, because he was a very important person in Australia, he helped protect our wildlife and taught us all so many things about it, he gave us laughs, made us cry, as well as that he made us realise that our diverse wildlife needs protecting and that's just what he helped do. I didn't think I'd never be hearing his famous 'Crikey' again, so soon.

Steve moved to Queensland when he was a child. His father bought the wildlife park at Beerwah on the Sunshine Coast, and since then Steve had taken over the running of the park and renamed it to Australia Zoo, then turned into an International tourist attraction, with his wife Terri who he met in 1992, they have 2 children, Bindi Sue Irwin born 24th July 1998, and a son Robert (Bob) Clarence Irwin born 1st December 2003. I really feel so sorry for Terri and the kids as I'm sure we all do.

One thing I'm sure about is that Steve knew the risks involved with his job yet it doesn't make the shock of his death any lighter. He will be remembered by me as a larrakin, a ambassador for wildlife and a guy who always made me smile and laugh. He was, still is and always will be, a Great Australian Icon. My condolences go out to Terri, Bindi and Bob and Family and all of Steve's friends. He'll never be forgotten. I will be adding a Special Steve Irwin Tribute page to this site in the near future.

R.I.P Stephen Robert "Steve" Irwin
